Found a Pet? Looking for the
owner?
Here are a few tips on how best to proceed.
·
Confine the pet. All strange animals are unpredictable and they are most likely to wander when they
are in unfamiliar surroundings. To be safe, keep lost pet away from any direct contact with your own pets.
·
Begin the search
for the owner right away. If the pet has no id to help you, first
call Almadale Farms Pet Reigistry @ 861-1028 or 861-7010
·
Call Collierville
Animal Services @ 853-3276 and Germantown
Animal Shelter @ 757-7358. Call veterinarians in our area. Give them
all a description of the found pet along with your phone number just in case the owner calls.
·
Put out signs.
If an owner is out looking, it’s the quickest way to get
pet and owner together. Walgreen’s, Dogwood Creek Apartment office, our Clubhouse and Halle Plantation’s Clubhouse
are all good spots for signs.

Has your pet wandered off?
Here are some resources that might help.
·
Begin your search
right away. Call the Almadale Pet Registry @ 861-1028 or 861-7010
to see if someone has reported your pet found.
·
Conduct foot
or bicycle searches. The first 72 hours are critical. Walking or
riding bicycles helps to lay down a scent trail that a dog may be able to detect. Early morning or late evening hours are
best. Cover a perimeter of one mile in all directions for dogs and one-half mile for cats. While most dogs are found within
seven days, cats can take an average of two weeks to be found.
·
Call Collierville
Animal Services @ 853-3276 and Germantown
Animal Shelter @ 757-7358. Call veterinarians in our area. Give them
all a description of your lost pet along with your phone number.
·
Hand our fliers
and post signs. Fliers & signs should begin with the words
“Lost Pet”, followed by a complete description and ending with a single telephone number. Include a photo. Remove
the background in the photo with scissors to make photocopies provide a better likeness.
Distribute fliers a mile in all directions for dogs and one-half mile for cats. Post signs as suggested above.
